NBC Sports Notre Dame beat reporter Keith Arnold tweeted Brian Kelly is starting quarterback Tommy Rees against Miami today.

Kelly has used both Rees and redshirt freshman Everett Golson behind center throughout the season, though Golson has been the Fighting Irish’s starter through all four games. Golson ascended to the starting job before the season, after Rees was suspended for the opener because of a May arrest.

Kelly reiterated on Friday that Golson was the Notre Dame starter, though another NBC Irish reporter, Alex Flanagan, tweeted the following earlier:

Golson has three touchdown passes and three interceptions, and his last two games has completed just 43.8 and 37.5 percent of his pass attempts. Rees was plagued by turnovers a season ago, and this season has a clean sheet, albeit on just 18 pass attempts. He led the Irish’s game-winning scoring drive in a Week 2 win over Purdue.
