The NCAA will announce Friday during an 11 a.m. conference call infractions committed by the Mississippi State football program, ESPN.com reported Thursday.

The report indicates rules violations are believed to be major.

Former receivers coach Angelo Mirando seems to be at the center of the controversy. He resigned because of “unforeseen personal reasons” last August, shortly before the season began.

DB Will Redmond is thought to be at the center of the infraction. It’s noteworthy that Redmond is from Memphis, a city with a history of recruiting controversies, including one at Auburn last year.

In August, Byron De’Vinner, a 7-on-7 coach, told The Jackson Clarion-Ledger that Mississippi State trustee Robert Denton Herring gave Redmond approximately $200. Herring declined interview requests from the NCAA and has since been disassociated form Mississippi State.

What this means for State remains to be seen – but will likely be discovered Friday.

Redmond is still a defensive back for the Bulldogs. He redshirted in 2012. The Clarion-Ledger reported that Redmond is expected to play a big role this season.

Right now the questions surround the extent of punishment expected. Will the Bulldogs go on probation? Will they lose scholarships or potentially postseason eligibility? None of those questions have answers at the time of this post.
