The Darrell Hazell era did not exactly get off to the most impressive start for the Purdue Boilermakers. Although they were playing a very talented team in the Cincinnati Bearcats, I’m not sure a lot expected a 42-7 rout to start the season. One person I’m sure didn’t expect that was Purdue QB Rob Henry, who didn’t necessarily do his part to prevent that outcome.

Henry, the leader of Hazell’s fast-paced offensive attack was just 18-of-35 for 161 yards, two interceptions and losing a fumble. Most times, Henry just looked confused, out of whack, and just outmatched by the Bearcats’ defense.

Well, Henry felt so bad about that performance that he decided to take to twitter to apologize for the poor showing, and then follow that up with announcing his exit from twitter.

I’m not completely certain that these announcements were entirely necessary after just one poor performance, yet I commend the young man for taking responsibility anyway. This shows a ton of maturity on his part and it’s refreshing to see. As we endlessly waste our breath on the antics of Johnny Manziel and why he won’t take responsibility for anything, here’s one of his peers who stepped up to the plate and acted like a man.

The performance may not have been anything to be proud of, but his act of maturity following it certainly is.
