Maxwell Award Watch List Released

A list 75 names has been presented to the masses for the watch list of the 2014 Maxwell Award. Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, and Bryce Petty dominate the quarterback-heavy list are are probably considered the heavy favorites to win the award.
The Maxwell Award has been given out by the Maxwell Football Club to the “best college football player in the country” since 1937. How impressive then that only offensive players are on the watch list for the Maxwell Football Club.
No matter, one of Winston, Mariota, and Petty are bound to be heavy favorites to win this award and the Heisman Trophy over the course of the fall. It should be noted the Maxwell Football Club does not always come up with the same player as the Heisman winner, so there should still be a lot of intrigue. Alabama’s A.J. McCarron won the award last season.
Two non-quarterbacks to pay attention to include Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon and Alabama running back T.J. Yeldon. Both should put up some impressive numbers in what are run-heavy schemes.
