Saturday Blitz Week 3 Conference Power Rankings

Week 3 of the college football season didn’t do much to change the way we already felt about conferences in college football. In fact, it mostly reaffirmed what we felt about every conference, and in some cases that was in the worst way.

The Big Ten is simply not that big, the ACC gave us a bit of a letdown last week, and the SEC is simply loaded. Scratch that. The SEC West is simply loaded, more than any division ever has been in the history of college football. As we put together our conference power rankings for Week 3 of the college football season, understand that all seven teams in that specific division could make a bowl while five are expecting to compete for a national title. Then there are other Power Five divisions, especially in one certain conference, where almost nobody belongs in a bowl game.

Unfortunately Independents can’t be factored into this equation because Notre Dame and BYU are making strong statements. Still, we have now got a very good read on where all the conferences belong in our power rankings, and it’s perfect timing too, with maybe two weeks left of mostly non-conference games.

Once conference play starts it gets a little bit harder to distinguish between conference because everybody is playing each other. But the non-conference play has shown us a lot already this year, and we’re not even done. So here are our Week 3 Conference Power Rankings.
