The Pac-12 is deep, that’s for sure. Five weeks into the college football season, every single team in the conference looks like it could compete for a bowl game and a spot in the Top 25 right now. It’s actually very impressive how good the conference is.

And this amount of parity makes this conference as hard to distinguish teams in as the ACC, only in a much better way: every team is good. On top every team being good, there are quite a few good teams who are great, which puts this conference right on the level of the SEC. That’s not a joke either. Oregon and UCLA speak for themselves, but there are six or seven other teams that have a very strong case for being in the Top 25 right now. And the rest of the teams could play their way into the rankings.

  • The Pac-12 has three undefeated teams left, with only one of those teams trying to prove it belongs with the elite in the conference. We already know to put the other two there. But after that there are also two teams who should have been undefeated but had bad losses, another team that is very close to being undefeated after barely losing to a very good team in the conference, and two teams with losing records that should at least be 3-2 right now and probably 4-1 for one of them.

The scariest part of the conference is that teams we thought were at the bottom appear to have found their rhythm, which makes them very dangerous going forward. Other teams who had nice starts to the season are now in the process of proving they are no jokes.

Knowing that this is a loaded, deep conference, and with lots of effort to separate teams, here are our Pac 12 Power Rankings for Week 5 of the college football season.
