Saturday Blitz Week 6 Big 12 Power Rankings

The Big 12 made sure to get it on the action last week. While most of what we expected to happen happened in this conference, unlike the SEC, there was obviously one major upset that completely shook up the top half of our Big 12 Power Rankings.

This conference is a lot deeper than we gave it credit for at the beginning of the year as well. There are currently five teams in the Top 25, which makes for half of the conference. In a way, that puts it on the same level as the SEC and the Pac 12 when it comes to depth, and there’s a great chance that another great team could crack those rankings by the end of the year. This is a great conference that has to get some respect.

Despite the depth in the conference and the number of good teams, the power rankings for his conference were surprisingly easy to finish. As we do with every set of power rankings, we based it on record, head-to-head, and quality wins, and the tiebreaker through after that is how teams have looked in games. While we don’t factor in style points at all in our official rankings, they are allowed to come into play. But they don’t supersede wins and losses.

And in this one, we hardly needed style points anyway. It is clear who deserves to be the top team in the conference so far, although that could change pretty quickly this week. One game on Saturday is going to determine for sure who is No. 1 in next week’s Big 12 Power Rankings for us.

So sit back, and enjoy the Big 12 ride for the rest of the season. Here are our Big 12 Power Rankings for Week 6.
