Troy Trojans at Georgia Southern Eagles

We’re going to go ahead and tell you ahead of time that this game gives us absolutely nothing to be excited about. Seriously.

The Georgia Southern Eagles are blowing people out at 6-2, and they have proven they can play with some of the big boys in college football after barely losing to N.C. State and Georgia Tech and beating Florida last year. That triple-option is going to be on display Thursday night for those of us on ESPNU, and in true old-school Nebraska Cornhuskers form, the Eagles will be looking to run it down the Trojans’ throat with Matt Breida and Kevin Ellison and put up 40 or 5o points in the process.

Troy, well, if we’re going to be honest, simply needs a miracle to win. Probably the biggest thing going for them is that Georgia Southern has been very inconsistent on defense, and with Brandon Silvers leading a not so terrible pass offense at quarterback, perhaps they could move the ball a bit on the Eagles’ defense. And maybe they could make this a game on the road.

Don’t get your hopes up.

Georgia Southern is at home and should dominate this game from start to finish. The Eagles are simply too good and will likely win the Sun Belt. Everybody will be watching Florida State-Louisville anyway, but if you turn away from that, for the sake of your eyes, please don’t turn on this game. You will regret it immediately.
