Steve Spurrier finally gave in and joined the twitter revolution and college football fans instantly rejoiced.

The Head Ball Coach broke down and finally did it. Yes, Steve Spurrier joined the social media world by creating a twitter account and there was much rejoicing across the college football twitterverse.

Spurrier was already past the 4,000 follower and he hadn’t even sent a tweet out at that point. I waited with bated breathe for the South Carolina Gamecocks head coach and former Florida Gators and Duke Blue Devils coach to share his mind and fire off that first tweet.

Finally, it happened.

Now, all we need is for Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban to relent and join twitter and the college football twitterverse will be complete.

I mean, if Spurrier can do it, surely Nick can create and account too, right? Heck, he could have one of his personal assistants run the thing for him if necessary.

But I’m not gonna hold my breathe with that one and will consider Spurrier joining as a win for all of mankind.

He’s been one of the best quotes in the business for the last quarter century and has never been shy of expressing himself behind a microphone, even if it means some good-natured trash talk for rivals (Tennessee) along the way.

Hopefully, we get that same unfiltered Spurrier on twitter. Maybe he’ll even live tweet some PGA events this spring?
