He made the announcement via an exclusive video from Bleacher Report that saw him reveal his choice in TImes Square.

The 6-4, 200-pound quarterback is the nation’s No. 131 recruit overall regardless of position, No. 6 pro-style quarterback and the No. 4 recruit in the state of New Jersey, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He picked the Vols over offers from some of the nation’s elite programs, such as Alabama, Oklahoma, Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan and LSU, among others.

His father played wide receiver at Rutgers when Butch Jones was a graduate assistant and that relationship proved vital in securing the verbal commitment from one of the nation’s best pro-style quarterbacks who should fit in nicely on Rocky Top.

He completed 78 of his 139 pass attempts last year as a junior for 887 yards and eight touchdowns to five interceptions. He also added 340 rushing yards and four more scores on the ground.

With today’s commitment of Guarantano, Tennessee now owns the nation’s No. 14 overall class and the No. 6 class in the SEC, according to the 247Sports team rankings. Guarantano is the highest-ranked commitment for the class that now has seven commitments.
