Former Purdue quarterback Danny Etling has transferred to LSU.

It appears that the two-day hosting of Purdue transfer quarterback Danny Etling has paid off for the LSU Tigers. On Monday, it was confirmed by Shea Dixon of Geaux247 the former Boilermakers starter will transfer to play for LSU.

He will have to sit out a season per NCAA transfer rules but does have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Etling was a highly regarded recruit out of Terre Haute South Vigo High School in Indiana. Ranked as a four-star prospect, he was the No. 290 overall player in his class, the No. 17 pro-style quarterback, and the No. 5 overall player in the Hoosier State per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

In two seasons with the Boilermakers, he has shown signs of promise, appearing in 13 games and completing 238-of-429 passes for 2,490 yards, 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

What does this mean for the Tigers? It gives them depth behind Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings who are vying for the starting job this year and should offer an insurance policy if they are hurt or struggle or both. That would make sure they won’t have to play five-star commit Feleipe Franks before they feel comfortable with throwing him into the fire.

In what has been a very successful recruiting month for Les Miles and his staff, they added another talented player this afternoon, one that could be a key part of the program’s future.

Is Etling going make a splash in 2016 for the Tigers, or will he get lost in the quarterback shuffle?
