Ohio State’s Braxton Miller is the best teammate in college football

Cardale Jones gave his thoughts about Braxton Miller’s departure from the quarterback position and how his selfless act makes Ohio State better.

And then there were two. With the move of Braxton Miller to h-back/wide receiver, the Ohio State quarterback position is down to J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones.

The selfless decision to do what’s in the best interest of the Buckeyes wasn’t lost on Jones who started the last three games of the year and helped Ohio State win the national championship. Jones offered his thoughts about Miller’s move to Jordan Starck of WTOL.

It is interesting how he mentions that Miller “will still have a role in the room and at the quarterback position.” I think it’s a tremendous idea to have him presumably in the meetings still, as well as keeping him involved in the quarterback position overall. That can only help with timing and route-running, and will give whichever quarterback steps under center a sense of security.

This move can only benefit the Buckeyes. Miller is not only a great quarterback, but also a great overall athlete. He has tremendous speed, and at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds he has the body type to be a successful wide receiver. One thing to watch for is what type of wideout he will be. Will he be a precision route-runner, a potent deep threat, or a player that can run the shorter routes, and make impact plays after the catch?

I could see him being a deep threat due to his size, and I think that style of play would fit well into the Buckeye offense. Having a strong quarterback core, an explosive running back and a group of wide receivers that can stretch the field will make the offense nearly unstoppable.

As they showed last year, they were a very talented, young, and explosive team. If everything goes the way it is supposed to go, the Scarlet and Grey have a great chance to repeat come January in part because of Miller’s selflessness.
