The college football kickoff for the 2015 season is only 29 days away now, which also happens to be the number of consecutive games the Florida State Seminoles won until losing to Oregon in the national semifinal last season.

Say what you want about Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State Seminoles, the fact is that the program is a winning one and they have been for quite a long time. But none was quite as successful and interesting as the FSU teams between 2012-2014, winning 29 straight games and a national championship.

That streak was halted in one of the College Football Playoff national semifinal games by the Oregon Ducks, who boatraced the Seminoles, 59-20, in a turnover filled affair for Jameis Winston and his crew.

Now the Seminoles have a new quarterback, and an opportunity to begin a new streak. But how many can FSU win in a row without Jameis and possibly without star running back Dalvin Cook, who is suspended indefinitely pending an investigation surrounding an assault charge.

Taking a look at the Seminoles’ schedule, the first possible challenge comes in the fifth game of the season on Oct. 10 against the Miami Hurricanes in Tallahassee. Nothing is ever really certain when the Canes and Noles hook up, and Miami is trying to build on some momentum from last season.

Following the game against the Canes, FSU has consecutive games against Louisville (at home) and then Georgia Tech on the road in Atlanta. That’s a stretch of three pretty tough opponents smack dab in the middle of the season.

The Noles then have a Nov. 7 date on the road with the Clemson Tigers, and then the season finale with the sure to be improved Florida Gators in Gainesville.

Fans can bark all they like about FSU not playing a tough schedule, they have some serious obstacles in their path to starting a new undefeated streak in 2015.
