On Monday, Boston College linebacker Connor Strachan was named the ACC Linebacker of the Week and he’s been the key to the Eagle’s success this year.

What has been a very successful start to the season for the Boston College Eagles is starting to show in individual accolades as sophomore linebacker Connor Strachan was named the ACC Linebacker of the Week Monday.

He led all Eagles Saturday with seven solo tackles, one sack for a loss of nine yards and 2.5 tackles for a total loss of 11 yards. The Eagles won a nailbiter against the Northern Illinois Huskies by a 17-14 tally to improve their record to 3-1 on the season.

Stratchan was part of a Boston College defensive unit that held the Huskies to 72 rushing yards and only 153 total yards. The defense as a unit has performed well this season, not allowing a team to rush for more than 100 yards so far this year.

Boston College is No. 1 in the country in total defensive yards allowed per game, surrendering 472 through three contests. That breaks down to 118 yards per game, 72 through the air and 46 rushing yards allowed per game.

The stout defensive play has translated to the scoreboard for the Eagles as they have only given up 7.8 yards per contest, an impressive number.

The players seem very comfortable in defensive coordinator Don Brown’s schemes, and so far, it is showing. Combining the comfort factor with Brown’s ability to author up plays which give offensive linemen fits, and you have a concoction that screams success in Chestnut Hill as the upstart Eagles look to continue to surprise the rest of the ACC.
