Sophomore Treon Harris would make his second start of the season for the No. 25 Gators, who have battled a virus as a program. The Gators had about 25 players miss practice this week, and head coach Jim McElwain thought the virus had subsided by Wednesday. Evidently, that is not the case.

Grier has performed okay this season, throwing for 725 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also shown his versatility as he has rushed the ball twice for two touchdowns.

Harris has thrown for 269 yards and two touchdowns this season including a performance against New Mexico State that saw him throw for 215 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-19 passing.

This may be a tough break for the Gators especially considering the high stakes of this game. If there is one thing that works in the Gators’ favor here, it is that Harris has some in-game experience, albeit in a lesser situation. This may give McElwain a chance to see if his backup players can perform well under pressure and give Harris another shot to showcase his talents.

The game, which is sure to be a tremendous contest kicks off at 7 p.m. under the lights of Ben Hill Griffith Stadium.
