Baylor’s Shawn Oakman was on the receiving end of a major hit vs. Texas Tech.

Usually Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman is the one delivering big-time hits and punishing blocks. In Saturday’s game against Texas Tech, he was the one on the receiving end of a major hit. The culprit was Texas Tech senior offensive lineman Le’Raven Clark and now he has something to brag about as it is not easy to take down the 6-foot-9, 275-pound Oakman.

The hit, which occurred in the first half was a perfectly legal crackback block and per Tim Griffin of the San Antonio Express-News, Oakman to leave the game.

When hitting Oakman, full force is necessary, and it seems Clark had the same line of thinking on that play.

The senior is a key part of the Baylor defense and has had two games this season in which he has registered five or more tackles.

After being suspended for the opener against SMU for a violation of team rules, Oakman appeared to be picking up where he left off in 2014. He finished the ’14 campaign with 51 tackles, 19.5 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks. After being put on multiple preseason award lists and being thought of around the ranks as one of the toughest players in the country, it is safe to say that he is one of the most polarizing players in the game.

Now, it seems that the man who has been described using the adjectives, “scary” and “monster” has been tamed at least for a little. That is frightening for the rest of college football however, as you can bet the next time he steps out on the field, he will be coming back with a vengeance.
