Things have gotten so bad for Charlie Strong in Austin that the Texas Rangers are now calling for him to be fired.

It hasn’t been a great start to the Charlie Strong era at Texas where the Longhorns’ head coach went 6-7 in his first year in Austin and is off to a 1-4 start with a pair of losses due to ugly special teams play and one blowout loss to TCU.

That loss to TCU was the second in a row to the Horned Frogs who beat Texas in back-to-back years for the first time since 1958-1959. Making matters worse was one of Strong’s prized freshman recruits, Kris Boyd, was on twitter at halftime and retweeted a tweet that said he should transfer to Texas A&M.

Yeah, things are that bad in Texas and it doesn’t look like there is a quick fix either so naturally the buzzards come out calling for his job. One unlikely source of that comes from the Texas Rangers, well whoever is running their twitter account to be exact.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, but preserved forever thanks to screenshots, the Rangers twitter handle thinks it’s time to “fire Charlie.”

Strong has had to deal with a lot of adversity in his first year and change on the job but I don’t think he anticipated getting shots fired at him from the twitter account of the local baseball team. Something tells me he couldn’t care less about that and has to worry about the boosters and administration who could be feeling the same way as the person who tweeted from the Rangers account.
