The LSU Tigers, led by star running back Leonard Fournette, will face off against the struggling South Carolina Gamecocks, here’s the complete game preview for their SEC showdown.

The Tigers have been on a roll as of late. LSU is coming into this game averaging 334 rushing yards per game behind Heisman front-runner Leonard Fournette. Additionally, LSU has been able to limit Brandon Harris, their sophomore quarterback, from making game changing turnovers.

However, Harris has also not provided much help offensively to the Tigers, as he is averaging a measly 6.3 yards per attempt, with two total passing touchdowns on the year for the worst passing attack in the SEC.

Coming into this Week 6 game, the Gamecocks are in a dangerous position. Starting quarterback Lorenzo Nunez was unable to finish last week’s game after suffering a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter.

This game was originally scheduled to be played in South Carolina but severe flooding stemming from Hurricane Joaquin forced the game to be relocated and the Gamecocks lose a home game and will play the game in Tiger Stadium instead.

Keys to Victory

LSU: If Leonard Fournette can maintain his historic rushing pace, expect to see the Tigers dismantle the Gamecocks quite easily. The Tigers have created an offense where they have the option to basically remove their quarterback from opponent’s defensive plans. Additionally, the Tigers have a player in Leonard Fournette that has been scheme proof. No matter what schemes and plays opposing teams have thrown at him, he is able to keep gashing defenses.

South Carolina: The Gamecocks need Nunez to be healthy and a difference maker. South Carolina is luck that they play LSU at home instead of in Baton Rouge. If the Gamecocks wish to win, then they will need to stop and stuff Fournette.

Harris must be made a liability. This means the Gamecocks will need to force LSU into a shoot-out. By making this game be decided on by the better passer, I would give South Carolina the advantage. The reasoning behind this is, Harris and LSU have not been in a situation where he has to save his team.

Nunez, and the other quarterbacks, are more familiar with carrying a load. As a result, if Harris was forced to save the game, it is more likely that South Carolina would find his weaknesses that have been masked by conservative play calls all season long.

Prediction

LSU will win this game quite handily. The Tigers have an amazing wealth of talent, and Fournette is an early Heisman candidate. Due to the Gamecocks having problems scoring points and stopping teams from scoring the Tigers will remain undefeated and Fournette will have another 200-yard game.

Final Score: LSU 38, South Carolina 17
