Derrick Henry played like a Heisman Trophy winner and led Alabama to a 29-13 victory over Auburn to secure the No. 1 spot in the SEC Power Rankings.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are the SEC’s last chance for a national champion this season, and running back Derrick Henry is the league’s best shot at capturing the Heisman Trophy in 2015.

Henry made his best case for college football’s greatest individual honor with a career-high 271 rushing yards and 46 carries. He also put the 29-13 Iron Bowl victory over Alabama on ice with a 25-yard touchdown with 26 seconds left in the game.

It was the fourth time Henry surpassed 200 yards in a game this season, and stretched his school-record streak to 17 straight games with a touchdown dating back to last year. Henry now owns the Alabama single-season rushing record with at least two more games left on the schedule – and possibly three if the Crimson Tide take care of business next week in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta and earn a victory in what would likely be a College Football Playoff semifinal bowl game.

Understandably, the 11-1 Crimson Tide, who were ranked No. 2 in the most recent playoff committee poll, are the No. 1 team in our weekly SEC Power Rankings.

The only question at the end of the 2015 college football regular season is whether Florida is a worthy No. 2 following a 27-2 loss to Florida State, or if the Ole Miss Rebels – the only team to beat Alabama this season – are more deserving following a dominant victory over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.

As we close the book on the regular season, we rank each Southeastern Conference football team from 14-1.
