Only three finalists were named for the Heisman Trophy, leaving out many worthy candidates for the top honor in college football, but these five were the biggest Heisman snubs.

The 2015 Heisman race was filled with surprising contenders and preseason frontrunners who fell by the wayside as the season wore on. With the Heisman award ceremony approaching, the finalists for the award were named on Wednesday night, and not without a fair share of controversy.

Alabama running back Derrick Henry, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey were invited to the New York as the nominees. but there were several players left out that had comparable stats and clutch moments that should’ve earned them a trip to the Big Apple.

There’s no denying the players who did make the final. Henry, who many consider the favorite to win the award, has rushed for nearly 2,000 yards this season, putting him over Herschel Walker for the all-time SEC record in that department.

Watson has been a dual-threat for Clemson this season as only a sophomore, leading the top-ranked team to an undefeated regular season. McCaffrey has been a multi-faceted star in his own right, with superb efforts as both, a ball-carrier and as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

But as much as we appreciate these outstanding athletes, the field has been narrowed too far, leaving out these five Heisman snubs.
