Super Bowl 50 is set with the Carolina Panthers taking on the Denver Broncos but what conference gets bragging rights for having the most players on the two teams’ rosters?

Super Bowl 50 is a meeting between former Auburn Tigers quarterback Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers taking on former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos. This marks only the third time two SEC quarterbacks will meet in Super Bowl history.

The last was when Manning met Rex Grossman when the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Chicago Bears in 2007 and the first was in 1977 when former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ken Stabler’s Oakland Raiders met former Georgia Bulldog Fran Tarkenton’s Minnesota Vikings,

So, it is only fitting that the two SEC quarterbacks represent two of the 24 SEC alums on Super Bowl 50 rosters, the most of any conference in college football.

1. SEC — 24
2. Big Ten — 18
3. Pac-12 — 16
4. ACC — 14
5. Big 12 — 10
5. Mountain West — 10
7. AAC — 7
8. Sun Belt — 5
9. Independents — 3
10. Conference USA — 2
11. MAC — 0

*There are also 14 players from the NAIA, D-II and FCS level to round out the rosters.

Ohio State leads all schools with six players on the Super Bowl 50 rosters, but the SEC sees Tennessee ties with Georgia Tech tied for the second most with four and Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Auburn all have three players to give those five SEC schools 16/24 as those football factories will be well-represented on Super Sunday.

Granted, the SEC is a conference of 14 teams, so take that into account when looking at the disparity in numbers between theirs smaller conferences like the Big 12 and Pac-12.
