The Alabama football team is loading up on National Signing Day and the addition of Terrell Hall clinched a fifth straight No. 1 recruiting class.

Alabama was left for dead when it came to finishing with the top recruiting class for an unprecedented fifth year in a row entering National Signing Day. But counting out Nick Saban would be a foolish thing to do and he proved any doubters wrong with a flurry of additions to the Crimson Tide recruiting class on signing day, including four-star defensive end Terrell Hall (Washington, DC St. John’s College HS) who clinched the top class for Saban and Alabama.

The 6-5, 250-pound weakside defensive end is the nation’s No. 64 overall recruit, No. 6 player at his position and the No. 1 recruit in the District of Columbia, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Hall picked Alabama over offers from Maryland, Ole Miss and Florida State.

The Under Armour All-American should be a nice addition to the Crimson Tide defense and could help replace the void when Jonathan Allen leaves after next season at defensive end or could potentially play one of the outside linebacker spots in the Tide’s 3-4 defense. His size, athleticism and ability to play in space could make him a fit at the Jack linebacker spot. If he can make a full recovery from an injury, he has a chance to be a special player.

It’s been a remarkable run for Saban on the recruiting trail to close the way he and his coaching staff did and the addition of Hall, while the last of the day, shouldn’t be discounted. He is a edge player who will go through the process in Tuscaloosa and bulk up, learn the system and gradually be brought along until he’s a future All-American in two-three years.
