Rodney Sumter works as a bartender at Pulse nightclub in Orlando where he witnessed the horrific events 10 days ago when a gunman entered the gay nightclub and opened fire, killing more than 50 people and leaving many more in urgent care in surrounding hospitals.

Sumter was shot three times on that night, but he survived and will survive and recover from the wounds he suffered that fateful night. And he’s received a great deal of encouragement from his visitors at Orlando Regional Medical Center, including from former MLB star Johnny Damon, Orlando City SC star Kaka and Florida Governor Rick Scott.

But he’s also received some visitors from some of the biggest football names in the state of Florida, including from his former high school quarterback Tim Tebow.

In addition to receiving a visit from his former quarterback at Nease high school, he got visits from another Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the state as former Florida State Seminoles quarterback and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston paid him a visit. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher also was there.

Tebow and Winston are two of the more polarizing athletes in recent years, but there are no grounds for criticism here as the two Heisman Trophy winners did something incredibly noble.
