Rutgers made a big splash on the recruiting trail with the commitment from four-star linebacker Tyshon Fogg.

Rutgers received a huge boost on the recruiting trail Sunday as 2017 four-star outside linebacker Tyshon Fogg (Calvert Hill College. Towson, MD) committed to the program. He announced the news on Twitter earlier Sunday and it was first reported by Ryan Bartow of 247Sports.

Fogg is the No. 236 player in the 2017 class, No. 15 outside linebacker, and the No. 6 player in the state of Maryland per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Getting 26 offers in total, Rutgers was not the only Big Ten school interested in Fogg. Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, and Rutgers all extended offers. In the end, the Scarlet Knights won the battle for his services.

On the Rutgers front, the program first extended an offer his way on July 7, 2015. He took unofficial visits to the campus later that July and the beginning of September. Things did not pick up again until Sunday when he announced the Scarlet Knights as his leaders and committed shortly thereafter.

For Rutgers, the addition of Fogg is a welcome one to a class that is growing by the day and flowing with talent under the watch of first-year head coach Chris Ash from Ohio State.

Fogg joins Micah Clark (St. John Vianney Regional. Holmdel, NJ) as the only two players in the class with the four-star distinction. The class is ranked No. 19 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Fogg will add speed and vision to the Rutgers defensive line. He is very good at play recognition and that will be an asset especially with so many potent offenses within the conference.
