Week 3 of the College Football season should fill your weekend with exciting games. Here are 5 bold predictions for this week.

Last weekend, college football didn’t have much to offer in the form of excitement. While a couple teams won that didn’t expect to, TCU vs. Arkansas became the best game of the weekend. Even College Gameday’s gem, the Battle at Bristol, got out of hand during the second half. Perhaps teams had let downs after their tough games the first week, but college football just wasn’t itself last Saturday.

This week, however, the match-ups are much better. In fact, the schedule has gotten back to the usual suspects, as historically powerhouse programs have tough tests ahead of them. Here are a few games that will be in the spotlight:

Florida State vs. Louisville

Alabama vs. Ole Miss

Notre Dame vs. Michigan State

Oklahoma vs. Ohio State

While taking these teams into account, what do they all have in common? If your mind immediately went to the quarterback position, then you would be right. No matter if the quarterback is a proven upperclassman or a young freshman, these programs are strong because of quarterback play. Teams who want to be competitive for the National Championship, more times than not, need a solid quarterback capable of handling the pressure and leading the offense.

Without a proven quarterback, it’s hard to make it to the playoff. For example, take LSU. The Tigers have had a man who some call ‘the best back in the SEC’, but because Brandon Harris can’t throw the ball, the Tigers have already put themselves out of contention for the playoff. Their quarterback has caused them so many problems, that the Tigers had to bench him against Jacksonville State. Even though Jacksonville State isn’t a bad team, the moral of the story is quarterback play will put a team in place to succeed.
