A shocking development has hit the Indiana Hoosiers football team.

Indiana University has dismissed freshman football player Kiante Enis after being arrested on Thursday. Enis was arrested in Randolph County (Indiana), where he was charged with two counts of child molestation.

The Randolph County police department received a report on Wednesday about Enis and a young teenage girl.  It stated that there might be a “possible relationship” between Enis, 19, and “a child 13 years of age or younger.”

Enis and the girl were both brought in to the Randolph County sheriff’s department for further questioning.  They both “admitted to a consensual sexual encounter that occurred on at least two occasions in Randolph County,” according to the Randolph County sheriff’s department’s press release.

Enis was later moved to Randolph County Jail, where he was being held on a $20,000 bond.  He is currently facing two counts of child molestation, a level 3 felony with a  sentence of 3 to 16 years in prison, with an advisory sentence of nine years.

Shortly following Enis’ arrest, IU athletics released a statement about the freshman wide receiver.  “Indiana Football has dismissed freshman Kiante Enis from the program effective immediately.”

Enis grew up in Winchester, Indiana where he attended Winchester Community School and played running back for the team.  Enis had previously been committed to Michigan, before changing to the Hoosiers.  His uncle is Curtis Enis, a former Penn State player and the No. 5 pick in the 1998 NFL draft. Enis was a 2016 finalist for Indiana’s Mr. Football award, and did not play in either of the first two games due to a concussion.
