Mike Gundy played quarterback for the Oklahoma State Cowboys from 1986 to 1989. They loved him so much that, prior to the 1990 season, they awarded him the position of wide receivers coach. He would serve in several other capacities with the team. Then, two stints at Baylor and Maryland eventually led him back to his alma mater. He took over the head coaching reigns in 2005.

A few days ago, Gundy made a statement that today’s college football players are less prepared to play, and that’s created parity in the NCAA. Whether you believe that or not, we are all aware of the unpredictable nature of this game, and that’s why we watch.

That’s not to say that the Cowboys have anything to worry about as they face the Kansas Jayhawks this Saturday. They don’t. Last week, the Jayhawks turned it over five times, adding to their -11 turnover margin. That puts them in last place in the country. This week, it won’t get any easier as they welcome Gundy, quarterback Mason Rudolph, wide receiver James Washington and defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer with that talented pass rush.
