College football’s 2017 Outland Trophy, for the nation’s top interior lineman, watch list was announced on Thursday afternoon.

‘Tis the season for preseason watch list reveals. Each day for the next two weeks, a different watch list will be announced and the 2017 Outland Trophy was the latest to reveal preseason favorites.

On Thursday, the Outland Trophy revealed its preseason watch list. Some of the names to make it are familiar and it’ll be an interesting race to see who comes home with the award.

While it’s given annually to the nation’s top interior lineman, that doesn’t limit it to the offensive side of the ball. When you think of interior linemen, it’s usually the offensive line, but you can’t forget defensive tackles, too.

Some of the most notable defensive players to make the list are Ed Oliver of Houston, Alabama’s Da’Ron Payne, Clemson’s Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins and Vita Vea of Washington.

On the offensive side of the ball, you have Texas’ Connor Williams, Clemson’s Mitch Hyatt, Ohio State’s Jamarco Jones, Oklahoma’s Orlando Brown, Notre Dame’s Mike McGlinchey, Ole Miss’ Greg Little, LSU’s Will Clapp and Arkansas’ Frank Ragnow.

The list of stars in the trenches stretches long, but only one of the dozens of names on the preseason watch can win. Heck, there could be a name that comes out of nowhere, not even on the preseason watch list, to win the trophy.

Who do you believe will win the 2017 Outland Trophy? The winner hasn’t been a defensive lineman since Aaron Donald won in 2013 and before him, Ndamukong Suh won in 2009. Can another defensive stud win in 2017?
