The 2018 season is right around the corner and Texas A&M football’s schedule is on the minds of all Aggies fans. Which foes present the biggest challenges?

Can you smell that? It’s the scent of a new era in College Station and Jimbo Fisher is looking to lead the Texas A&M Aggies out of the middle of the pack in the SEC West and into the national spotlight.

The former Florida State head coach has proven himself as a winner, claiming a national title in Tallahassee with the Seminoles back in 2013. Can he do the same with the Aggies? The fans sure have sky-high expectations for the head coach.

It won’t be easy, but he has the pieces in place to have a successful first season. The Aggies won’t have the easiest schedule in the world, with road games against Auburn and Alabama as well as a non-conference battles with Clemson, but if they can steal one or two of those, they’ll be in good shape.

How do the Aggies’ 2018 opponents rank by toughness level?

Northwestern State had a forgettable season in 2017, going 4-7 overall and 4-5 in Southland play. Soon enough FCS foes will be outlawed, but the Aggies will get to start the season with a sure win here.

The Demons played just one team from the FBS last season, Louisiana Tech, and they didn’t fare too well, losing 52-24. The Bulldogs went just 7-6 and 4-4 in the C-USA a year ago, so they aren’t necessarily on the same level as the Aggies.

Defense was not this team’s strong suit as it allowed at least 40 points five times and the offense wasn’t much better, breaking the 30-point mark three times.

The season opener will be a nice way to start 1-0 on the season as the Demons don’t present much of a challenge to Texas A&M. This is surely the easiest game on the schedule.
