Baylor football is coming off a tough loss to Duke and will look to get things right against Kansas. Do the Bears have anything to worry about?

Baylor and Coach Matt Rhule had seemingly gotten things on track heading into their Week 3 matchup with Duke. Duke jumped out to an early 23-0 lead in the first half when the Bears came out flat and making critical mistakes. Baylor ended up losing to Duke 40-27.

Baylor cannot make similar mistakes when Kansas makes the trip to Waco on Saturday. Kansas is coming off of back to back wins and putting up 55 points on Rutgers last week. Baylor cannot take any opponent for granted and needs to take care of business if they plan on getting things back on track for the rest of conference play.

Kansas, on the other hand, is looking to get their third win of the season equaling David Beaty‘s total for his first three years in Lawrence. The Jayhawks have admittedly gotten wins over bad competition in 0-3 Central Michigan and 1-3 Rutgers.

Kansas leads the nation in turnover margin at +12 but can they keep that production up against better competition? Baylor will need to get more pressure on the quarterback and force some turnovers of their own.

Keys to Victory

Baylor defense is going to have to step up and play well. Kansas now have a player in running game to wreak havoc on defenses in running back Pooka Williams. Baylor will have to limit chunk plays and play disciplined gap assignment to contain Williams.

Offensively Baylor will need to land on one quarterback and ride with their guy the whole game. Baylor has employed a rotation with quarterbacks Charlie Brewer and Jalen McClendon so far this season.

Prediction

Baylor will not lose this game. After coming out flat in the first half against Duke and then outscoring Duke 27-17 in second half Baylor will jump on Kansas early. Kansas will have to abandon their running game in an effort to come back after going down 31-3 in the first half. The Defense for Baylor will show up and James Lynch will have 3 sacks on the day and pick up an easy win to open conference play.

Final Score: Kansas 17, Baylor 49
