UCF football battled through a physical test from Navy to stay perfect, defeating the Midshipmen at home to improve to 9-0.

It took every bit of grit and a full 60 minutes, but UCF triumphed over the visiting Navy Midshipmen to win their 22nd consecutive game. The No. 12 team in the nation led this one from wire to wire, but Navy provided a test in physicality and made UCF earn the victory.

The win sets UCF up with two remaining games in their quest for back-to-back perfect regular seasons. They’ll host Cincinnati in Week 12 before ending the season on the road against USF in the War on I-4. Those are two tough tests ahead, making taking care of business against Navy on Saturday even more impressive.

Here are three things that stood out from UCF’s win:

1. UCF can win in a variety of ways

The game script against a military academy that runs the triple option looks nothing like how UCF would envision their games to be played. They were forced to adapt to a completely different style and they made the switch almost flawlessly. That’s what makes this team so daunting.

Regardless of where the College Football Playoff committee puts them in their rankings, the Knights are able to stand toe-to-toe with just about everyone because of their ability to win in a variety of ways. A ground-and-pound slugfest? UCF can do it. A shootout? The Knights have that in their arsenal too.

It doesn’t matter who they’re up against or what the flow of the game looks like, UCF is adaptable on both sides of the ball.
