Could 2019 be the year Stanford football makes a move back to the top of the Pac-12? Here are five players who could help make that happen.

David Shaw had Stanford close to 10 wins again for the second year in a row and the ninth-year head coach has remained as consistent as any in college football.

In fact, he has never finished with less than eight wins in a single season and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change in 2019, especially with a slew of talented players rising to the occasion this spring and making names for themselves.

Will we find Bryce Love’s replacement sooner rather than later? Is KJ Costello going to approach 4,000 yards through the air yet again?

Which five Cardinal players are trending up after spring ball?

Simi Fehoko has led an interesting career to this point. He committed to Stanford as an Army All-American in the 2016 class and then took a two-year mission before returning to campus in 2018 to begin his Cardinal career.

The sophomore receiver had just one catch for six yards during his career but there’s plenty of room for growth, especially after earning praise from David Shaw this spring. He talked about Fehoko coming off a hamstring injury this spring and the fact that he’s a sophomore but acts as an upperclassman because of his experience.

"“(Simi) is an old sophomore but you’re also talking about a guy who left Utah with just about every career and season receiving record there is. He is a big-time playmaker and I’m excited about him getting his feet wet this year.”"

Although he may not be projected as a starting receiver this season, he improved his stock with a nice spring which concluded with a touchdown pass in the scrimmage.

How could any quarterback not take advantage of an athletic 6-foot-4, 210-pound receiver like Fehoko. And, fun fact, the Cardinal went 4-0 in games that he played in 2018, so does that mean they’ll go 12-0 if he plays in each game in 2019? Probably not, but that’d be a fun story.
