Chris Petersen landed one of the best receivers in the country for the 2020 class and four-star Jalen McMillan is going to do big things for Washington football.

With three of the top four receivers on the team set to graduate after the 2019 season, Chris Petersen knew he had to make a move in the recruiting ranks, and he did just that, landing four-star wide out Jalen McMillan.

The commitment of McMillan on Tuesday afternoon was big for the Huskies because he now becomes the highest-rated pledge since Budda Baker back in 2014.

On top of that, he fills an immediate need with elite talent.

Aaron Fuller, a potential 1,000-yard receiver in 2019, Andre Baccellia and Chico McClatcher are all set to graduate while Ty Jones will be a senior after this season. An aging receiving corps has to be concerning for the Huskies, but with Puka Nacua coming in with the 2019 class and now McMillan in 2020, they could have a devastating 1-2 punch in a couple of years.

Petersen is building a solid class as McMillan is now the top commit, ranked the No. 31 prospect in the country and fourth-best receiver, per 247Sports. Although the Huskies’ class is ranked just 42nd nationally right now, it only has eight commits with an average rating of four-star status, which will change for the better soon.

Washington is trending in the right direction and the Pac-12 is the Huskies’ to lose for the foreseeable future.
