Nebraska, Penn State Shine in Week 4 Big Ten Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 4
6. Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 3-1 (0-1), Defeated Navy Midshipmen 31-24 Last Saturday
Kyle Flood’s Rutgers team is a few bad breaks away from being undefeated right now and much higher on this list. With that in mind, it seems unfair to have them all the way down at No. 6 because Washington State and Navy are actually two quality wins.
But the Scarlet Knights haven’t done anything significantly impressive enough yet to move up this list. Gary Nova has been good enough at quarterback through the first four games of the season with 6 touchdowns, but he’s had 0 the past two games, and his 5 interceptions against Penn State can’t be ignored.
Still, take away the turnover issue, and this is a balanced team that could be much higher on this list, so don’t sleep on what they can do as the season progresses. A game against Tulane this weekend gives them a great chance to get to 4-1, and Michigan at home is another very winnable game to get them to 5-1. After that they have a bye, and then the heart of the Big Ten schedule begins where we find out a lot about this team with three straight games against Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
