Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 4

5. Ohio State Buckeyes, 2-1 (0-0), Idle Last Saturday

For Urban Meyer and his Ohio State Buckeyes, last week was probably not the best week for a bye after his team was coming off a 66-0 blowout win the week before. Ohio State has managed to remain lower than they would like to be in these rankings because that loss to Virginia Tech looks worse and worse.

And the Buckeyes have no wins to make up for it. Losing to Virginia Tech the way they did makes Ohio State look incredibly mortal going into this weekend in a home game against Cincinnati. This is obviously a game they should win in a blowout, but you never know. They should have blown out the Hokies.

Ohio State simply hasn’t done enough yet to move up higher on this list. J.T. Barrett can play quarterback, despite being a bit inconsistent, but the defense is still questionable. At least they appear to be getting better after putting up more than 60 points and pitching a shutout their last outing, but it needs to show against some real competition before they move up the list. The ugly win against Navy and loss to Virginia Tech are still fresher in everybody’s mind.
