Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 4

9. Iowa Hawkeyes, 3-1 (0-0), Defeated Pittsburgh Panthers 24-20 Last Saturday

After a bad loss to the in-state rival Iowa State Cyclones two weeks ago, the Iowa Hawkeyes were able to rebound with a good road win against Pittsburgh last Saturday that has brought the team to 3-1 and revitalized some hope.

But it’s not enough yet. The Hawkeyes looked bad through their first three games of the season, and although Pitt had looked shockingly good, it is still a very young team and was prone to having a bad game. We’re not going to give Iowa too much credit just because that bad game came against them.

The Hawkeyes still have some offensive issues to work out, although they are getting better. But a passing game that ranks 93rd and a rushing attack that ranks 96th against mediocre competition to start the season is not a great look, so for right now, this team belongs in the bottom half of the Big Ten. A road game against Purdue this weekend won’t do much for their rankings if they win, but they had better not lose.
