Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 4

8. Indiana Hoosiers, 2-1 (0-0), Defeated Missouri Tigers 31-27 Last Saturday

Just when you were ready to write off the Indiana Hoosiers after a bad loss to Bowling Green last week, they gain back a ton of respect with an upset loss against a ranked SEC opponent. Perhaps Kevin Wilson is ready to finally get his team to a bowl game in his fourth year after such a great upset.

But let’s all slow down. I’m sorry, but the bad loss to Bowling Green stands out more than the win against Missouri. The Tigers were overrated from the start and were only ranked due to what they did last year. This is a brand new team, and Gary Pinkel-coached teams often have to have rebuilding seasons. This is one of them, so Indiana’s win is not that impressive.

One decent win couple with a bad loss to a team that gave up 68 points this past weekend is not enough to move the Hoosiers too far up this list. It is simply nowhere near as impressive as analysts would want to make it out to be. Missouri could finish last in the SEC East, which is the worse division of the two in that conference. That’s not much to celebrate, so the Hoosiers remain in the bottom half of this list for now. But that could change soon with Big Ten play beginning this weekend against Maryland.
