Nebraska, Penn State Shine in Week 4 Big Ten Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 4
7. Maryland Terrapins, 3-1 (0-0), Defeated Syracuse Orange 34-20 Last Saturday
The Terps looked really good against Syracuse over the weekend and continue to prove that they have better athletes all over the field than almost anybody they’ll play. But CJ Brown is still very inconsistent at quarterback, and the defense is now decimated by injuries.
Those two things could hurt Maryland significantly once Big Ten play begins this weekend against Indiana. If Brown had more accuracy, this team could easily be 4-0 when you combine his mobility and arm strength with OC Mike Locksley’s spread offense and the athletes at receiver.
The defense, thanks to injuries, has issues in the front seven but also has an official superstar now in cornerback Will Likely. Likely is a cornerback who seems like he’s good for at least one touchdown a game, either through an interception or a punt return. With Big Ten play beginning this weekend, the Terps have the talent to move up this list. It’s time for that talent to show itself in a complete game against a good team.
