Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 7

A fluke loss to Ole Miss? No biggie. A 1-point win against Arkansas in which you only had 227 yards of offense and needed 3 turnovers and a missed call by the officials at the end to secure the win? Major concerns. So why do we have Alabama so high on this list? Well, 5-1 is 5-1, and it’s a decent 5-1 with wins over Florida and West Virginia. This team is still in the heart of the SEC race, no matter the concerns we have.

But it’s time to start worry. Blake Sims is still at least playing efficient, but the running game for the Tide appears to have disappeared. When did you ever expect that from a Nick Saban team? This is still a great defense, which could be enough to lead it to the promised land, as long as Sims keeps playing decent. But the running game has got to get going, and TJ Yeldon has turned into a disappointment so far. That has to change going forward.

With Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and Auburn on the schedule, this team can’t relax. LSU is no sleeper either, so Alabama is just as vulnerable as any other team in the SEC West right now. If they want to avoid that, improving the running game is the key, and what happened Saturday can’t happen again.

Who would have ever thought they would be this low in our SEC power rankings under Saban?
