Saturday Blitz Big 12 Power Rankings Week 7

The TCU Horned Frogs should be No. 1 on this list, and in a way they were robbed by massive inconsistencies on pass interference penalties. But by leading Baylor by 21 points late in the game, these guys at least proved that the win over Oklahoma wasn’t a fluke. They also showed that the Gary Patterson defense has some cracks in it.

Giving up 61 points is unheard of with this program! How did they let that happen? The offense put up enough points. The defense should have done its job. Still, there are some silver lining. For starters, unless Baylor runs the table, TCU still has a chance to be the top team in the Big 12. Trevone Boykin is looking like a star at quarterback, and he can be accurate when needed. His play along with Kolby Listenbee has been enough to put this offense at No. 3 in the country. And with the No. 1 defense in the country, this football team can still accomplish a lot.

The brutal schedule continues this week with a game against Oklahoma State. But after already playing Oklahoma and Baylor, the Cowboys and Kansas State are the only ranked teams they have left. The rest of the games should be winnable, especially Kansas and Iowa State.

So having gone 5-1 with the toughest Big 12 schedule to date, and with a quality win over another 1-loss Big 12 team, the Horned Frogs deserve to be No. 2 right now.
