2. Can Dalvin Cook handle the full workload of a feature back?
Last season Dalvin Cook clearly demonstrated that he has all the makings of a go to back with elite quickness, good vision and above average speed, along with the physical mindset that he isn’t going down without a fight.
The only problem with Cook as a feature back however is that no one knows if he can go from receiving 10-20 carries per game, to 25-30 carries per game. One of the hardest parts of being the feature back is staying on the field on all downs, and carrying out fakes or pass blocking at full speed despite knowing you won’t get the ball and are tired from playing so many snaps. That cannot be a problem for Cook or he will not be getting that role.
The other question is ball security, but I think that was more of a one time thing and not a problem.
Either way putting the ball on the ground or slowing down at the end of the game, will lead to tough questions, fair or not, about Cook’s ability to handle the load.
