5. Who fills the void left by Eddie Goldman and Mario Edwards Jr.?

Last season the Seminoles had two of the best defensive lineman in the country in Mario Edwards and Eddie Goldman, which helped them from underachieving even more than they actually did. They were both very important, especially Goldman who took on two blocks with regularity, allowing linebackers to fill gaps and make plays.

Juniors Chris Casher and DeMarcus Walker are both blue chip defensive ends with high level athleticism and good pass rush skills that should make the Edwards loss, less important. At defensive tackle however there isn’t another star like Goldman coming into the defensive tackle spot.

Sophomore Derrick Nnadi has the most potential among the group, but even he does not project to be a star. Nonetheless Derrick Mitchell could become an impact player for the Seminoles, but the spring game will tell us what the coaching staff thinks of the development of the linemen and who may be their impact starters in 2015.
