3. Can the offensive line protect the quarterback?
The Clemson offensive line will be perhaps the ultimate key for the Tigers this season. On offense, the Tigers love to run the ball, but more importantly they have one of the most fragile quarterbacks in the country in Watson. The offensive line consists of four seniors and one red shirt sophomore, so they are a well seasoned group that have grown together.
The other question is with the recruits they brought in, including the highly touted true freshman Mitch Hyatt, if there are struggles, how long does Swinney stick with his veteran line? Does he trust them to get the job done or does he give the quick hook to get the more talented players in there?
The real test will come for Isaiah Battle who will protect the blind side of Watson and will be the most in the spotlight. This game will be a test because the defensive line for Clemson, despite losing some big pieces, will no doubt be well coached.
Needless to say this will be big for their confidence and if they have trouble, the fans will be all over them already.
