2. Which receivers not named Tyler Boyd will step up?
In 2014 Tyler Boyd was among the best receivers in the country, and really could not be stopped. Boyd ended the year with 78 receptions for 1,261 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, making him a truly elite college receiver.
This year Conner will be the focus of defensive coordinators, but a close second will be Tyler Boyd who has the ability to run any route, at any time and create some space no matter who the corner is.
This spring game will be critical to establish a second receiver in the event Boyd gets double covered. Last season no other receiver had more than 17 receptions on the team, which would average out to just more than one per game. That will need to improve if the Panthers want to be come a better offense and take some pressure off their defense.
The best bet is tight end J.P. Holtz, who had the third most receptions on the team last year. Holtz should be able to roam free over the middle of the field with Boyd on the outside, but other than that the cupboard is pretty bare at this point.
