4. Malik Dear’s Role in the Offense

Malik Dear enrolled early so he could take part in spring practice and try to earn some early playing time as a true freshman and he could be a big factor in the team’s passing game this fall. Dear was a four-star recruit and the nation’s No. 13 athlete, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the freshman I’m most looking forward to seeing on display on Saturday.

The Percy Harvin comparisons get thrown around way too much anytime a receiver operates out of the slot and can make plays with his feet as well as his hands, especially in this type of spread offense, and I’m not going that far, but Dear’s versatility should be a big-play asset and give Prescott another weapon to work with on the perimeter with Jameon Lewis gone.

I wanna how involved he is in the game plan and how much of the offense he has mastered, because he’s only been in Starkville since January and could take a massive step in his development between now and September.
