Running Back is Wide Open

Josh Robinson was crucial for the Bulldogs last year, particularly in the win against the Arkansas Razorbacks. His departure is a huge loss for Mississippi State, and while a few people stepped up in the spring game last year, nobody stood out.

The biggest star was Dontavian Lee, but he only ran the ball for 53 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Dak Prescott and Nick Fitzgerald both had good rushing numbers on their respective teams as well, but Lee was the only running back to stand out.

The spread offense that Prescott thrived in last year requires great skill players, and a great running back is a huge asset. If nobody can stand out at the position, things will get tougher.

Aeris Williams, Deondre Fair, and Ashton Shumpert all picked up yards on the ground, but there was nothing to believe that there is going to be a standout at the position.

Still, it was just a spring game, and the Bulldogs have a way to go to replace so many starters.

A lot can happen between now and the start of the season.
