Tevin Coleman – Indiana
The Indiana product is the consensus third-best running back in this class behind Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon. It’s interesting how much we as fans and analysts discussed the devaluation of the running back, but two went in the top-20 and more will go in the second. I think the NFL is intrigued by the success the Dallas Cowboys had with Demarco Murray and look to copy that.
It is a copycat league.
This bodes well for Tevin Coleman who is the top running back left on the board. Coleman has a good combination of size and speed for a running back. He was very productive at Indiana and was the focal point of their offense. Coleman is good at finding the hole and earning the yards he’s supposed to. He does a great job at following his blocks and letting the play come to him. His only negative is that he’s an “upright runner”, which is what DeMarco Murray was billed as when he came out.
Coleman should be the first running back off the board and could go anywhere in the second round.
Teams to watch for: New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals
Next: Duke Johnson
