College Football Coaches as Star Wars Characters

Urban Meyer: Master Yoda
The only Jedi that was close to Emperor Palpatine’s skill once he got to power was Master Yoda. And he probably nearly beat Darth Sidious.
But he was not quite there. Despite the recent national championship, Urban Meyer is not quite on Nick Saban’s level yet. But he’s the only one to challenge Saban.
And he built his empire before Saban with two national titles at Florida, the same way Yoda ran the Jedi Council and was a respected figure in the Galactic Republic before Palpatine became the Emperor.
When Palpatine set out to wipe out all of the Jedi, Yoda managed to survive. Despite Saban’s takeover of the SEC, Meyer managed to survive by going to Ohio State and beating Saban in a College Football Playoff game this past year.
Because Yoda lost barely to Palpatine, if Meyer indeed beats Saban next year and wins another national title, we might have to rethink his status as Master Yoda. But until then, he is the perfect guy to be Yoda. Again, this is not about good-guy vs. bad-guy in our rendition of coaches as Star Wars characters. So don’t think of Meyer vs. Saban in that way.
Think about it in terms of power.
