His Heisman hopes faded at the end of the year with losses to Alabama and Ole Miss in the last three weeks of the regular season, but if he can repeat his numbers from last year, it’ll be even more impressive than last year considering the lack of returning starters on his team.

Prescott may not lead the Bulldogs to the No. 1 ranking this year, but with him behind center, you can’t discount the effect of having the best quarterback in the SEC and will defy the experts who picked them to finish last in the SEC west, just as he did last year.

Dak Prescott

QB, Mississippi State

Dak Prescott was the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy midway through last year after he nearly single-handedly led the Mississippi State Bulldogs to wins over LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn in three straight games. That three-game stretch saw Prescott show off his dual-threat skills and rise from unranked to the No. 1 team in the nation.

He finished eighth in last year’s vote after throwing for 3,449 yards and 27 touchdowns to 11 interceptions and ran for 986 yards and 14 touchdowns. He even added a touchdown reception to give him a total of 42 touchdowns he was responsible for in a dream season for Mississippi State.
