3. Kansas Offense Shows Signs of Life

The Kansas Jayhawks had one of the two losses in the conference, with a heartbreaking 41-38 loss to South Dakota State. Kansas was in position to attempt a tying field goal at the end of the game when a fumbled snap caused time to run out.

The bright side for Jayhawk fans is that the offense showed a lot of potential. Under new head coach David Beaty, the offense should put up much bigger numbers in 2015 than they did in 2014.

The 2014 version of the Kansas offense only averaged 324.1 yards per game. They high points total they had in any single game in 2014 was 34 in a win over Iowa State.

Not only did the Jayhawks score 38 points on Saturday, they also rang up 576 yards of offense. Junior running back Ke’aun Kinner led the way with 157 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Junior quarterback Montell Cozart was very efficient, completing 64.8 percent of his passes for 291 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Beaty appears to have some building blocks to work with on offense. Kenner is a potential all-conference performer. He and his teammates should give Kansas fans something to get excited about before basketball season kicks off.
